Reporting App for a design & tech agency

An internal reporting app that solves the frustrating issues of manually copying team members' updates into separate emails for the clients. Team members also struggle to write their reports since the previous website was cluttered and not user-friendly. We automated the email delivery process and streamlined the process to write and review the reports.

Challenge

The app had a cluttered interface, making it difficult for users to navigate and find essential features. Users were facing issues with the onboarding process, which was affecting new user adoption rates. The app lacked personalization and customization options, making it less engaging and user-friendly.

Results

We redesigned & implemented the whole UI and UX of the project in 2 months.

The reporting app is used by 90% of the workers in the company.

With the new design and features, the communication process between the agency, its team members, and its clients are smoother. No more manually copying bullet points to individual emails for clients!

Context

This was the first sprint between designers and developers. Previously, designers and developers worked separately in the agency. During this project, I facilitated the sprint as the sprint facilitator and designer.

Target users

Design & tech agency team members and managers.

Team

I worked as the design sprint facilitator and UI/UX designer, with the C-level managers and other developers.

Process

Research & Analysis: Before conducting any research, we kickstarted this project with sprint facilitation to brainstorm what we envision this product would be in the future. I conducted user interviews with the managers and the company's team members to find out how they used the previous version of the reporting app. Then, I analysed & synthesized the data into affinity map and personas. I try to involve other team members during the research process by integrating it into the sprint facilitations.

Information Architecture: Based on the research insights, we hurdled and analysed which pain points were our prioritise for this sprint. Then, we created the user flow and information architecture to ensure that the flow makes sense for both the users and the technical implementation.

Wireframing & Prototyping: I designed the low-fidelity wireframe and add simple UI design since this sprint's priority is to get the MVP working. We met up a couple of times to ensure that the handoff to the development team was smooth.
